Let's Explore the Area of North Port

The City of North Port is located in Sarasota County between Tampa and Fort Myers.  With a population of slightly under 75,000 this area is growing and growing.  This community is 104.3 square miles and there are so many open spaces and parks.  An interesting fact about this area, many of the residents in North Port are young families, with the median age being in the lower 40s.

 North Port is rich with incredible natural springs.  Warm Mineral Springs, maintain an 85-degree temperature year-round and has one of the highest mineral contents in the world.  Warm Mineral Springs Park is a must-visit when you are in the area.  The springs are rumored to have one of the highest mineral contents of ANY natural spring here in the United States.  A fun fact, The springs and the buildings are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places!

 North Port is located inland, but the beaches are just a short 20 – 45 minutes away from local beaches in Lee, Charlotte, and Sarasota Counties.

Adventurous canoeing and kayaking opportunities are available within the city. It is estimated that there are 80 miles of freshwater canals in North Port. Another fun fact is that North Port is the only city in the state with an entire state forest inside its city limits.  The 8,000-acre Myakka State Forest is located here.   The city also has several miles of mountain bike trails, horse trails, and natural hiking paths.

 

North port is home to Wellen Park and Cool Today Park. Wellen Park is a master-planned community.  There are currently building a downtown area and it is expected to be absolutely fabulous!  Cool Today Park is the spring training facility of the Atlanta Braves, the current World Series Champions!
