Let's Explore the Area of Venice
Located on the Gulf Coast about 18 miles south of Sarasota, this is an area in Florida not to miss. With a population of around 23,000 people, Venice, offers 14 miles of beaches, from Casey Key to Manasota Key. Yes, known mainly for its incredible beaches, this amazing location is also a town with a rich history and culture. Once a simple fishing and farming community, this city has become a favorite vacation destination.
Stroll downtown and notice thee pink, Italian Renaissance buildings. Venice also is a Florida Main Street City. The northern Italian architecture and incredible landscape are something worth seeing. The heart of downtown is Centennial Park. This is where there are often free concerts at the gazebo. It’s also the place to visit to get local information. There is a kiosk that can help give you any information you may need.
If you’re a nature lover, then you will love this area. There are more than 30 parks scattered throughout the area. While out walking and exploring keep your eyes out for various species of rare birds and exotic animals. There are plenty of those here too!
Many people ask about the difference between this area and Naples Florida. Naples is about 1 hour south and tends to be about 5 degrees F warmer. Venice is also known to be a low-key beach area. Yes, there are restaurants and shopping, however, Venice is much for “upscale” when it comes to those things.
